Report gives Nebraska’s traffic laws a low safety rating

Each state has its own set of traffic laws. One of the things that can have big traffic safety ramifications in a state is how closely the drivers in it follow these laws. Failure to obey traffic laws is among the types of driver conduct that can trigger major crashes. In your opinion, how closely do Nebraska’s drivers, generally, follow the state’s traffic laws?

Another thing that can greatly impact traffic safety in a state is what kinds of traffic safety laws the state has. A recent Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety report raises questions about the safety level of Nebraska’s traffic laws.

The report rated the states on their traffic laws. The ratings were based on how much the states adopted 15 different traffic safety laws. These 15 laws cover a variety of things, including seat belts, booster seats and texting while driving.

Nebraska was given a low rating in the report. Now, Nebraska was far from alone in being given a poor rating in the report. Overall, 17 states were in the cellar when it comes to rating level.

One wonders if Nebraska will be making any major changes in its traffic safety laws, including further adoption of the 15 traffic laws recommended in the report, in upcoming years. If it does, one wonders what ramifications the changes will have on the safety of the state’s motorists.
